SHDL#07 Warrior

Updated: Jul 29, 2020

Hask, the Warrior, is our second character-class. A controller-type character, focused on managing the battlefield. Deals well with large mobs for longer periods but isnt a good finisher.

This ended up being one of the biggest departures from classic fantasy stereotypes, with big, powerful Warriors that soak-up and deal a lot of damage, although I still managed to keep the savage, powerhouse theme in there.

The focus of this class was to make use of interesting mechanics outside of the areas other characters explore better (DPS and Tankiness), so I specialized him on crowd-control, with just enough damage to effectively clear and clever uses of simple skills, specially for sustain.

His first skill is Galeshock.

Hask pushes away everyone in front of him, stunning them and damaging any that hit an obstacle.

This skill is both a initiator and a finisher, as it's perfect to make a group of enemies vulnerable before engaging but can also knock enemies off the edges and kill them instantly, if you position yourself well.

His second skill is Gravelslide.

Hask channels a large area-of-effect that roots enemies, while moving them around.

Far away enemies get pulled in, while closer enemies get pushed away.

This skill can effectively freeze the battlefield for a few seconds, saving you from a crowd that closed in or bringing stragglers into range, but it should be used carefully as flying enemies are immune to its effects.

Hask's third skill is Gliding Axe.

The bread-n-butter of his kit, this skill throws an axe forward with infinite range that bounces back to the user on the first enemy it hits, damaging it and any other enemy on its way back while also healing the user on arrival.

Simple and powerful enough to nuke weaker enemies, but with a really high skill ceiling, as both healing and damage scale with distance traveled and the axe lingers on until it's reaches Hask.

If the axe is successfully caught, its cooldown is reseted.

His last skill is Scorched Earth.

Hask summons a huge area-of-effect around him that severly slows anyone that enters, also damaging them once.

The ultimate defensive move for though situations. It's large, instantaneous and lasts a long time, making every enemy around you vulnerable.

Hask has no special mobility or high movement speed, but he can compensate with nice base damage and a smart use of his Gliding Axe, to steadily clear the level and keep the pressure on the enemies.
